I am convinced that my solid morning routine is the reason why I’ve totally transformed my life over the past few years. For you guys that don’t know me, my name is Mimi and I’m the founder of MIMIBEE – an online magazine and podcast for women. A few years ago I used to be really unhappy in my life – I didn’t like my body, I didn’t have any thriving relationships, I had a lot of financial stress, and I simply didn’t like my life. Fast forward to now, I am 22 years old and I’m running my own successful business, I’m in the most incredible and passionate relationship of my life, I’ve lost over 10 lbs of fat, I’m financially free and I’m finally living the life that I always knew I could. I am living at my highest potential.
It feels like over the years I’ve tried every morning routine under the sun! I’ve finally found one specific structure that works. I do many different things in my morning routine, one being a 45 minute structured journaling/meditation/reading sequence that I honestly give full credit to for changing my life & priming my brain for success. In this blog post I’m going to give you a peek inside of what I do every morning. Consistency is key in my life, and I rarely miss a day!
I truly believe that a structured morning routine is the secret to reaching all of your goals and to bringing your life to the next level. Your mornings set the tone for your days, your days set the tone for your weeks, your weeks set the tone for your months, then your years, then your life… You get the point. The compound effect, baby! Now, here’s what I do:
5:00am – I wake up with my alarm, I use the app Sleep Cycle for this. I love this app because it tracks your sleep quality and wakes you up when you’re in your lightest sleep cycle. I don’t press snooze. I get up right away to do a lil stretch and to drink some water. Then I’ll head to the bathroom and wash my face with cold water and afterwards I’ll apply some serum & moisturizer. I’ll drink some more water before heading downstairs.
5:10am – at this point I’m downstairs making my Bulletproof coffee. I’m obsessed with my Bulletproof coffee. I blend 1 tsp of MCT oil with 1 tsp of grass-fed butter OR coconut oil with some mycotoxin-free coffee. It’s heavenly.
5:15am – time for the 45 minute priming routine that I teach in my course. This includes reading over certain pre-written pages, writing down points, writing down a checklist, and doing a very specific visualization meditation.
6:00am – after I finish my morning priming routine, I’ll either do some work on my “Advantage Hour” (also taught in my course), or I’ll start my day with a workout. I’ve been working out pretty much every day for the past few weeks as I’m trying to smash some serious body goals in the upcoming months! I always love to have set goals I’m constantly working towards.
Which workouts do I do? If I’m travelling (which has pretty much been 24/7 these days), I’ll do one of three online workouts. Either P.volve, Melissa Wood Health, or a workout from John Benton’s online program. If I’m feeling sore I’ll stick to a yoga/stretch sesh. I’ve learnt that recovery is just as important as the working out itself! If I’m at home in London, UK, I’ll go to the gym and workout with my trainer Rick White.
7:30am – I’ve just finished my post-workout shower, and I’m feeling great at this point because I’ve worked on my body and soul for the past 2.5 hours. By now, I’ll turn my phone off of Airplane Mode and get started on some of the most important tasks of the day. This usually includes writing, other creative work/content creation, conquering big emails, and editing videos.
9:00am – I start to get hungry around this time. I practice intermittent fasting so I probably haven’t eaten since around 5:00pm/6:00pm the night before. My breakfast really depends on my mood – if I’m feeling sweet I’ll have some organic berries, almond butter, and some grass-fed sheep’s milk yogurt. If I’m feeling something more savoury, I’ll have some organic eggs, spinach and avocado. Tumeric & black pepper allll over the avocado please and thank you. I don’t ask for much. 🙂
And there you have it! I value waking up at 5:00am every single morning because it gives me the sacred time to slow down and feel really accomplished before the rest of the world wakes up. I feel like I hold a competitive advantage when I wake up super early, even though I don’t necessarily need to with my self-employed job. It really helps my subconscious confidence levels because I feel like I have that edge. It starts my day with discipline and it keeps me laser-focused.
I know I’m kind of intense – but that’s just me. I used to slack off in life and as I mentioned at the beginning of this post, I didn’t really like myself back then. I didn’t feel like I was performing at my highest potential and I was constantly filled with guilt, regret, and anxiety throughout my day. This morning routine brings me back to me, and I can honestly say that I feel the most incredible I’ve ever felt!
