Your body works ultra-hard to detox daily. Your liver actually has over FIVE HUNDRED jobs it does to help rid your body of toxins from the environment, food, plastics, or just natural byproducts from metabolic bodily processes that need to be ushered out.
THE BOTTOM LINE: Your liver is doing a lot of work so we might as well help it out when we can. Think of your liver as servers or bartenders at a restaurant doing their thing. They are constantly running around to do all their jobs but when the restaurant is overloaded with customers, they can’t do a good job. Your job is the bouncer. You want to keep the restaurant from being overcrowded so things continue to run smoothly.
What’s the most important thing a bouncer does? Turn people away or get people out when need be. That’s pretty much this week’s detox health tip: FIBRE is that bouncer. Insoluble fibre is a crucial part of detoxing the body and digestion. These are a type of carbohydrate that our body cannot digest and therefore it helps to push things along, if you know what I mean.
The body actually needs anywhere from 35g – 38g of fibre per day. The best places to get fibre are dark leafy greens like collards, swiss chard, kale and spinach, or seeds like flax and chia which are super high in fibre. Incorporating more fibre into your diet will help rid your body of toxins on a regular basis. After your liver has packaged all the toxins together, you’re simply helping those toxins get out of your body.
I urge you this week to try to keep track of your fibre intake and get up to at least 35g and see how much better you feel!
